The Tetbury Camera Club was meeting online via Zoom since September. Now that our season officially ended in May. Now that we can now meet outdoors, we are meeting as we usually do in the summer months, with a series of photo walks. Photography is usually a solitary creative endeavour. Most photographers prefer being alone with their camera and very few distractions. Photo walks give us a chance to enjoy the company of others while we enjoy creating photographs.
If you have never participated in a photo walk, joining one can be more fun than you might think. You will be surprised at what you see that others miss. You might also wish you would have seen something one of your fellow photographers noticed that you did not. We all see the world differently. Our likes, dislikes and past experiences have shaped us into the people we are and influence the photographs we make. This is our unique way of seeing and being influenced by what we see.
A photo walk can happen just about anywhere, in large cities, small towns and rural areas. They all have a different appeal and may spark new interests to explore on your own. When choosing a location for a photo walk, one important consideration is a place to meet afterwards. This could be a pub, cafe or restaurant and gives everyone time to catch up over drinks and good food. ‘Where did you see that? I was right next to you the whole time!’ is often heard when reviewing photos. Now is a great time to reconnect with friends. Especially those we not have been able to get together with for a while. Club members are enjoying taking a walk with other club members and our cameras. I hope you can get out with a few friends and explore an area with your cameras soon.
If you are interested in photography, we invite you to join the Tetbury Camera Club. We welcome photographers of all levels. You can get more information about the Tetbury Camera Club and our programme of online meetings, please visit us at TetburyCameraClub.org.uk
